Our organization is involved in numerous activities
Various classes on literacy, Dress and Textile design and library for developing reading as habit going on as ASRA.
Earn and learn
Over 80 females, mostly widows, orphans or destitute are presently enrolled in this program. The Needlework team follows the ‘earn and learn’ model. Products fashioned in the classroom are given a finishing touch by the trainees and put up for sale. They are trained by qualified trainers and industry experts like women volunteers in the boutique and fashion designing sector.
Women Self Help Group
The trainees of cutting and stitching, design and drawing, Applique work (Phool Patti) and Kamdani/ Mukaish etc. have collaborated with the trainees of ICT to form a self-help-group (Non-micro loan and interest free) relying on the not for profit primary investment from the society. This way the ASRA for women has completed some orders of conference bags, coasters, home linen in Phool Patti ka Kaam successfully. The group aims to continue its work even after completion of the course.
Our courses
Our organization runs many courses
Garment and Applique Designing (Tailoring)
A forty weeks programme of 5 days a week runs for 4 hrs a day in which tailoring, appliqué (Aligarh Phool patti) and fabric painting is taught.
ICT and Digital Literacy
A computer lab of 15 PCs is used for hands on training of the women and girls in this programme. Filling online forms, MS Office and web development are taught. The ICT skill development at ASRA is sponsored by the JS IT Centre.
Basic Literacy and Islamic Values
Trainees of all vocational training courses receive mandatory classes of Islamic theology and reading writing as well as
High School Coaching
The school dropouts of all age groups are provided coaching classes for high school women private exam of the AMU board. Course material is provided and forms are filled up.
